During my studies in Paris I worked for a design studio specialized in packaging. French supermarkets are full of letterings with an handwriting flavour which seems to fit incredibly well to a wide range of products differing greatly from each other.
With the aim to analyse and summarise the qualities of letterings into a typeface, I’ve faced choices and limits similar to the ones encountered with handwriting.
The experiment consisted in variations of the letters' axes to give rhythm, and open shapes to suggest movement and gesture. Letters want to dance!
